Spring Hair: Balayage

Thinking of changing your hair for the Spring? You’re not alone! There’s something about the warm weather that makes us girls want to blossom into a new and improved spring look. This Spring, I wanted to lighten up my hair and go for a sun-kissed look that would bode well for the spring and summer.

Balayage is a new trend sweeping over this season, and it’s quite literally doing so! Balayage comes from the french word of meaning “to sweep”- it’s a technique where sections of hair are dyed lighter to create a natural look of depth. I started to balayage my hair last summer, and have gradually moved up to looking almost entirely blonde (I’m naturally a light brunette). Balayage is perfect for creating that lovely boho-chic, beach look and is perfect for those who love low maintenance because the lightening doesn’t start from the roots- it gradually reaches the bottom so roots are no longer a worry! Whether you’re looking to lighten your hair up or just needing some kind of change, Spring is the perfect time of year to freshen up your look.

For those who are in the GTA, I highly recommend Moneva HairStudio in Streetsville- I never leave disappointed!

  • Is this the same technique as Ombre? I used to Ombre my hair for two years but I’ve recently cut it short! You have absolutely fabulous hair!

They’re a little bit different- balayage is more of a sweeping motion all over the hair and is a bit more precise than ombre which is just lightening the shade of your hair down a few levels from your natural colour. Both are quite similar though and I love the look of both! Thank you!

  • Your hair is incredible, you’ve chosen such a great shade! And the curls are just perfect!

    • Diana Maria

Thank you love, I’m all for the beachy blonde shade and she curls hair so perfectly I wish I knew how to do that myself!

  • Ah your hair is amazing!!! Wish I was brave enough to dye mine (really want ombre but not sure if it will suit me as my hair is so dark!!)x
