How To Regain Inspiration: Creating an Inspiration Board

 ouh

You’re sitting at your desk staring at your computer screen working on a creative project, and the next thing you know you’re googling tips on how to get rid of a double chin and found your ex’s  girlfriend’s sister’s cousin on Facebook. How did this happen?! You wonder.. and more importantly why!? You have more than enough to keep you busy on your to do list and yet here you are.

Some of this has to do with simple distractions- we all get distracted sometimes! Yet most of the time it’s a case of creator’s block- it’s kind of like writer’s block, but can be applied for anyone with a creative muse. To get out of this funk, I find that it’s best to make yourself search for that new inspiration by creating an inspiration board to hang above your work space. An Inspiration Board is a Board where you pin photos and reminders that will help keep you stay on track and stay motivated to carry on with your work. It’s quick, simple, and is a lovely way to inspire yourself and decorate your room at the same time!

Here is what you’ll need to create your very own Inspiration Board:

gyPhotographs– Personal photos of your favourite memories, polaroids or store bought photos of what you love- any of these will do as inspiration to pin up on your board.

okCut Outs– Magazine cut outs are the simplest ways to find easy access to photos of anything from beautiful landscapes, celebrity role models, or fashion inspiration to use. (Mind are inside this adorable little mason jar!)yas

brighPins and Fillers– Little decorations or fillers add a personal touch to your board and can help you fill spaces that are difficult to cover or add photos to, and the pins are pretty self explanatory!

persPersonal Memoirs– Gifts from friends, Birthday cards, personal photos; anything that puts a smile on your face and takes you back to a positive time in your life is worthy to pin up to your board.

The board itself can be bought in stores such as Home Depot, craft stores, or other Home Outlet stores that may carry these types of boards.

And voila, there you have it! Your very own, self made inspiration board!

thereDo you have your own inspiration board? What helps inspire you? I’d love to hear about how you inspire yourself when stuck in a rut! xo
