The Perfect Gift Guide For Book Lovers

image

As the Christmas season approaches, so does the season of snuggling cozily in bed with a warm cup of tea and a book to read. We all know at least one bookworm whose always looking for a new read to add to their collection and fawning over all things stationary. As a booklover, I’ve rounded up five of my favourite reads that I recommend as perfect gifts for those who love books. Here are my top five picks!

Not That Kind of Girl: Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham’s memoir is a hilarious collection of wonderfully written autobiographical stories of personal failures, embarrassing memories and successes in between. This book is a perfect read for girls looking for words of wisdom through the many trials and errors of Lena, who doesn’t hold back while retelling what she’s learned through her life of failed relationships, awkward breakups and even more awkward hookups.

imageBoss Girl: Sophia Amoruso

Sophia recalls her journey to success through her path of rebellion, risk taking and inevitable enormous success. This is a lovely read for those who need a little push to get started on working towards their goals and following their dreams. Sophia’s devoted dedication and refusal to change any part of who she is while working on her dream is a true inspiration.

imageThe Alchemist

The Alchemist is the classic tale of a young boy in search of his destiny, yet beyond this story lays the heartfelt wisdom Paulo Coelho is so easily able to illustrate through his words. Everyone should read this awe inspiring novel at least once, which brings to life the message of listening to your heart and following your dreams- a wonderful message to spread this season.image

Never Have I Ever: My Life So Far Without A Date: Katie Heaney

This one is for all the girls who have ever overanalyzed a three worded text from a boy, fallen in love with someone they could never have and lived to tell about it. Katie Heaney doesn’t shy away from her awkwardness when it comes to her love life which makes you feel so much better about your own failures in love. Funny and oh-so relatable, Katie’s story is one many girls can read and proudly say to themselves, “I’ve been there, too!.

These are only a few of my top picks for this holiday season, and I’d love to hear your recommendations as I’m always searching for new reads! What are you currently reading this season?

Haha you should it’s a lovely read and you’ll be so glad you read it once you finish!

  • I just finished #GirlBoss, it was a great read and so inspiring! I read it at the same time as I was flipping through The Woman I Wanted To Be by Diane vF, so it was an interesting comparison. Sophia really grew her business from the ground up and she wasn’t really a rule follower, whereas Diane went to boarding school in the Alps and married a prince! Both very ambitious women though.

Really lovely guide! I loved reading “#GrilBoss” and have wanted to read “Not that Kind of Girl” for a while now. So it seems like I should definitely be taking your book advice! Really want to get my hands on “The Alchemist” as well. A friend of mine told me it is a very strange book though!

I hope you enjoyed these suggestions Catarina!

  • I’m a huge book lover, too, but I guess we differ in tastes. While I’m all up to opening myself up to new genres, I’ve got a huge soft spot for middle-grades, philosophicals, and psychological thrillers! Think The Little Prince, Agatha Christie and Harper Lee!

    May | THE MAYDEN

    • Diana Maria

Harper Lee is a lovely choice! I feel as though I’m always looking for new books to read, I used to adore reading what my philosophy teachers would assign. It seems you have very good taste in books May!
