Starting A New Chapter In Life

newlife

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it” –Rumi

If you, like me, are looking to set yourself on a new chapter in life and on a path towards a positive life style that embraces self love as well as self acceptance- then welcome, and congratulations! Making a conscious effort to change your life is the first step towards creating an actual change.

Soon changes will start to enter your life from every direction- they will come naturally and will only make a difference if you choose to let them. If you are ready to embrace these changes and wish to start a brand new chapter in your life, here are some tips that I’ve followed through my own self journey.

Write Down Your Goals

Think about what it is that you want to achieve. It could be independence, to get a certain job, to move out from home- big or small, each goal is just as important as the next. It’s important to be aware of your goals so that you can stay focused and continue to remind yourself of what it is you are working for. A  new chapter in life means a whole lot of changes, new beginnings, and endings. Your goals should reflect those changes and new beginnings you’re working to start!

Make A Plan

Now that you know what you’d like to change in your life and what you wish to achieve, make a plan that can help you get closer to your goals on a daily basis. What small things can you start doing each day that will bring you closer to this new chapter? What are some bigger steps to follow over time that can help make your goals a reality? Create a plan that inspires you, and you’ll feel much more confident on the path that you’re following!

Let Go Of The Negative

If there are things that you do which make you unhappy, or people you surround yourself who no longer help you grow- let go of them. Certain habits like overeating, partying, or staying in bed feeling hopeless keep you feeling down, and a positive lifestyle has no room for them. If you surround yourself with people who do not make you feel good about yourself, it’s also time to let them go and make room for those who can bring positivity to your life.

Embrace Your Past Mistakes

Sometimes, we spend so much time thinking about our past mistakes and failures, that we forget what lies ahead of us. Understand that your mistakes have made you stronger and have brought you to where you are now in life- trying to make a better future for yourself! That’s a great accomplishment on your own, and you should never let your failures overshadow the positive aspects of your life and the potential you have within yourself. Find that potential, and hold on to it.

Have you ever wanted to make a change in your life, or start over? How have you found your journey to be? I’d love to hear your stories!

It can be hard to let go, when clinging on to things seems more comforting at times. It’s great that you’re trying to make a change Carmen, and thank you! 🙂

  • I think making plans may be the hardest for me. A lot of times, I can get lost on where to begin and what next steps to take. But I’m learning to look at things from both a bigger picture and smaller details.

Thanks for the inspirational read. <3

I tend to do the same, which at times discourages me because I have no idea where to begin or how to get to where I want to be. It all begins with one step is what I try to remind myself! I’m so glad you enjoyed the post love 🙂

  • Yes, coming to terms with past mistakes is so important. I am constantly having to remind myself that mistakes I made in high school cannot be judged by the knowledge I have today, because I was young and less experienced then. So its not fare to be so harsh on myself.

    Great motivation!

I agree, it isn’t fair to be harsh on yourself for past mistakes, but can be hard to do at times. I’m glad you’ve realized this and feel the same way, we all deserve acceptance from ourselves 🙂 Thank you so much Mikela!

  • Love this post! I am currently moving out on my own (no longer with roommates) and I am so excited and scared. A lady was like “Ohh.. well you might get lonely but you’ll get used to it” and now I’m imagining myself turning into a crazy person from solitude. Love everything on this list especially making a plan. It’s fun to wing it sometimes but having a plan is always a good thing to look back on if you get off track <3
